What is the background info on the organization?

Since 1992 Big Apple Greeter’s mission is to enhance New York City’s worldwide image and enrich the New York experience by connecting visitors with knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers. Our goals are to promote New York City as friendly, inviting, and manageable; to bolster tourism and to foster economic development; and to create opportunities for New Yorkers to show pride in their city and give something back to the city.

 

Why did the organization apply for support from Fuserna? How did they hear about Fuserna?

Fuserna approached us after learning about our financial challenges on CNN.

 

Is the support from Fuserna “a bridge” until other funding arrives?

Fuserna’s funding has given us the opportunity to develop long term funding opportunities.

 

Why did Fuserna decide to give funding to this particular organization?

After reviewing our financials and learning more about us from our Founder, Lynn Brooks, we believe Fuserna saw the value of the program and knew their support would have major impact.

 

How is the funding being used?

The funding is helping to keep the program alive, providing operating support and the time we need to develop long term financial stability.

 

How was the experience of working with Fuserna?  How was it different from working with other similar organizations?

The experience with Fuserna has been wonderful. We feel we not only have a strong support but we have a new friend and a strong ally who believes as much as we do in the value of the program.

 

What was the speed in which funding was received?

The funds arrived quickly and efficiently.

 

Did Fuserna follow up and evaluate how the money was used?

Our audited financials are reviewed by the foundation annually.

In addition we send Fuserna updates including the annual budget, quarterly newsletters, Annual Report, Board and Committee minutes when appropriate.  We also maintain ongoing communication by phone; e-mail, text or in person with Fuserna principles and staff.

 

Can we get a quote from an executive at the organization?
